Support Groups

We believe that one of the most important roles of the Bracken County Community Center is to provide a pleasant, reliable meeting place for support groups. Here's a sampling of the groups that meet at our center.

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group

Sometimes, talking with others who are caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease can help reduce the stress and loneliness you may feel. The Alzheimer's caregiver support group meets every Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Conference Room 3.

Recovering Gamblers Support Group

Discuss your feelings and experiences with others in your community who face the same addiction. Receive encouragement from your neighbors while making your way through recovery from a gambling addiction. This group meets every Friday at 4 p.m. in Conference Room 2.

Quit Smoking Support Group

Whether you are at the beginning of your journey to quit smoking or are in the midst of it, joining this group may be of help to you. Benefit from learning tips from others who are further along on the path to kicking the smoking habit. Talk with others about your experiences, or just listen. Use this group in the way that is most helpful to you. The quit smoking support group meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Conference Room 4.

Grief Support Group

When you're moving through the grief that comes from losing a spouse, friend, or other loved one, it can be helpful to spend time with others who are grieving. Conference Room 1 serves as a meeting place for the grief support group every Sunday at 1 p.m.

Recovering Alcoholics Support Group

Meet with others who are walking the path to recovery from addiction to alcohol. Find a sponsor in the group who can provide you with individual attention on your journey. Our recovering alcoholic group meets at 3 p.m. every Saturday in Conference Room 1.

Newly Divorced Support Group

The end of a marriage can come with a lot of grief and conflicting feelings. Talk with others who are working through many of the same feelings and emotions as you, and find encouragement from those members who are discovering how to navigate life without a spouse. Gather with members of this group at noon every Monday in Conference Room 5.
